IoP going from strength to strength
Statistics show that more people than ever are turning to the Institute of Plumbing for help and guidance in a wide variety of subjects ranging from information on training to complex technical matters.Hundreds of enquiries have flooded in each week since the beginning of the year. In addition, the website www.plumbers.org.uk has seen a dramatic surge in interest with over 800 people a day accessing the wide range of information available. Journalists use the Institute as the first port of call when plumbing is in the news.
Institute membership is also on the increase. Recruitment figures for the first three months of this year shows a 100% increase on figures for 2002 over the same period. Trainee membership has grown, but is expected to rise further with the introduction of the student newsletter, Plumbing Matters.
The Technical Services Board reports that the Institute's Working Groups are all flourishing and has drawn a lot of support from the IoP’s Industrial Associate members. Orders for the Institute's publications have steadily grown with the Plumbing Engineering Services Design Guide topping the list of favourites. The Technical Papers and Dataflow sheets are also very popular.
Kevin Wellman, Operations Director, said: "The Institute has proved to be the focal point in the industry over recent months and the fact that places at the IoP Conference in Leeds have been filled so quickly confirms this."
