IoP going from strength to strength

Plumbers are often in the news for the wrong reasons, mainly because of the 'cowboy' element. Because of this negative image, it’s not surprising that plumbers are not always seen as being qualified professionals who continually up-date their skills.

At the Institute of Plumbing Conference, which takes place at the Hilton Leeds (Garforth) from May 29th - June 1st 2003, delegates will be keen to find out about the latest developments in technology, the impact of regulations on domestic heating and a variety of other subjects such as the chaos in the insurance market. There will be eleven speakers in all and the opportunity for delegates to talk to manufacturers in the plumbing industry.

The Conference, which is expected to attract around 300 people including delegates, partners, children, exhibitors and speakers, is an annual event which takes place at different venues throughout the country. Places at this year's venue have been completely sold-out.

The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Neil Taggart, will be giving a welcome reception to delegates and their families at the Banquet Hall on Friday 30th May. The following morning he will officially open the IoP Conference. It is attended by a wide variety of people including self-employed plumbers, specifiers, college lecturers, plumbing designers, manufacturers, engineers and consultants. There is a full social programme included for delegates and their families, including an evening at the Royal Armouries and the Gala Dinner. Further details on the Institute and its Conference can be found at www.plumbers.org.uk.
